Beeren Plantproducts is a modern horticultural company specialising in the production of asparagus crowns, leek plants, and strawberry plants.

Asparagus Varieties:
For the past 50 years Beeren Plantproducts asparagus crowns have been grown in the best possible conditions. Our soils are carefully selected and analysed to ensure crowns are grown disease free with optimum growth. All of our asparagus crowns are grown in virgin soil. Before seeds are sown soils are tested for various diseases such as ‘Fusarium Oxysporum’ and ‘AM’. From this stage until delivery the production process is controlled by the independent Dutch Inspection Service for Horticulture ‘ ’NAK-tuinbouw’. Our crowns are freshly harvested each day. We grade the asparagus crowns into two different grading weights: B grade: 40 to 70 grams and A grade: 70 grams plus. A good crown and a good well developed root system is very important.

Beeren Plantproducts produces all the important varieties from the leading breeding companies, both for green and white asparagus. The following hybrid varieties are currently available. From the Dutch breeding company Limseeds we cultivate Avalim F1, Backlim F1, Grolim F1, Gijnlim F1, Herkolim F1 and Thielim F1. Primaverde F1 and Andreas F1 are from the French breeding company Vilmorin and Rapsody F1 is a variety from Südwestdeutsche Saatzucht in Germany.

Select Plant Certification
Beeren Plantproducts complete production process is controlled by the NAK-tuinbouw. If the crowns meet the strict production controls of the NAK-tuinbouw, they are awarded the ‘Select Plant’ certificate. All our crowns are Select Plant certicated. The quality assurance system employed covers the following
elements:

1. Analysis of samples of the soil of the breeding plots for the presence of Fusarium Oxysporum.
   
2. Use of seed that is free of Fusarium.
   
3. Several field inspections conducted by NAK-tuinbouw inspectors during the production of the stock, during which attention is paid to trueness-to-variety, varietal purity, and the health and uniform development of the crowns.
   
4. Weekly inspections of plants delivered in specified grades during inspection visits both during the grading and after delivery
   
5. Identification of the crowns with Select Plant document labels and seals.
